Our major activity this month
has been the enrollment of the students in the Berean Bible
Institute classes. Seven teachers are teaching eighty-five
students who had a choice of taking twelve different classes.
The new classes this year are church history and pastoral
counseling III. The students are excited to be studying again.
It was a long summer. Some even felt disconnected during those
days. Lots of changes; lots of prayer requests; lots of praise
items to share with you.
1.
Praise the Lord for the joy that Jaime and Miriam have in
their faith and walk with the Lord. Jaime has a friend who has
fallen into sin and is in counseling to restore his spiritual
walk again as it should be. Jaime had a great attitude about
this as he prays for his friend. Lynford was concerned that
this would cause discouragement.
2.
Praise the Lord for the teachers and students that are
involved this year in the institute classes. God is working
mightily in their lives and our desire is to see them become
involved in ministry and missions.
3.
The new mission work in North Quito is in the home Bible
study stage. Evangelism continues, however the teaching is
important for the believers’ growth.
4.
Praise the Lord for the eighty-five students studying the
Word of God. We prayed for one hundred, but God is working.
The institute extension in Quito is not functioning this year
due to low attendance and health issues for Pastor Luís.
5.
Praise the Lord for the opportunity to preach in various
churches during the year. This month Lynford preached in three
different churches. During the invitation thirty men and women
made public decisions to live the spiritual life as the Word
teaches. That is the work of God in the hearts of believers.
6.
Praise the Lord for the encouragement of the teaching of
the Word of God. God is building mature believers to continue
the work of making disciple makers.
7.
Praise the Lord for the opportunity to prepare men and
women for the ministry. Key men for church leadership; key
women for ministries with women and children are organizing
their service for the Lord.
8.
Praise the Lord for the financial givers of our ministry
team. These faithful men and women have done their job well.
God has provided; God will continue to supply for every need
that arises.
9.
Praise the Lord for good communication with our children
(and grandchildren) in the USA.
God is answering your petitions
as you go to Him daily with the requests for this month.
1.
Pray for Jaime’s friend who is in the recovering process
of his spiritual walk. It is complicated, but God can make the
changes in the lives of His children.
2.
Keep praying for an Ecuadorian missionary/pastor for the
North Quito mission ministry. The Lord has been working in
seven families who desire this new church. The new pastor will
have a good group of believers to begin working with as God
opens the doors.
3.
Pray for six work/ministry teams in 2012. These teams
make a major impact on the ministry as they come to do what they
do best – SERVE.
4.
Update on the medical needs here in Quito:
-
Irene Mena
has her brain surgery on October 14th. Pray for the
surgeons and God’s direction in her recovery. The doctor will
remove a benign tumor.
-
Luís Simbaña
continues his weekly treatment for leukemia. He is feeling much
stronger now, but has to continue for one year. His defenses
are real low.
-
Maricela León
had her thyroid taken our due to the fact that it was
cancerous. She is taking hormone medication now and will be
given iodine treatments when it arrives in Quito, hopefully in
November.
-
Emanuel León
is two years old and has cystic fibrosis. The medicine he
takes has helped him gain weight. In December a team of doctors
are coming to help CF patients and their parents with the
disease.
5.
Pray for Pastor Marco Cruz who is making many important
decisions in his ministry this year. God leads His servants
each step of the way.
6.
Pray for God’s work of reaching others with the gospel
through the Bible institute students. They are planning two
mission trips during this semester. These outreach ministries
will lead to a local church plant.
7.
Pray for the work of evangelism/outreach in Quito. God
desires the salvation of souls. We want to be faithful. Ask
God to raise up some men and women who will be willing to do
this ministry full-time.
8.
Pray for the annual couple/family retreat the first week
of November. The family needs God and His word.
9.
Pray for preachers/teachers who teach the Word daily.
Rejoicing in God’s eternality,
Lynford and Sharon Regier
