Vol. 19 No. 5                  ECUADOR ECHOES                 Quito  Edition

October 6, 2011

God has His way of protecting each of His children during the difficult days of our lives.  I am sure you have experienced that fact often in your life also.  God’s love to us is overwhelming and His wing overshadows us.  Every believer can enjoy these truths daily.

NORTH QUITO CHURCH PLANT

Jaime and Miriam continue their vigil for a new church near them.  However, they are not sitting around.  Jaime is talking to co-workers at his job about Christ.  He is inviting them to his house for the Bible study.  Miriam’s sister was present last week.  She had lots of questions.  Even though she is shy the Lord is working in her heart.  Pray for Maria to come to a full assurance of God’s salvation in her life.  Her daughter also loves to hear the truth about Jesus.  Miriam will disciple both of them as the Spirit of God works in their lives.  Seven families are very interested in a new church in their section of Quito.  Our prayer request before the throne of God is that He would call an Ecuadorian missionary/pastor with his family into this harvest field.  We will not tire of praying for this need.

PASTORS PLAN A RETREAT

The first weekend of November is a national holiday in Ecuador.  This year the workers have three days off.  The pastors have taken advantage of the free time to invite families to the camp in Santo Domingo for this retreat.  It is a beautiful place.  The topic of “finances” is very necessary for every Ecuadorian family.  God will use this special emphasis to give guidance to the parents and their children.  These events have been well attended.  Lasts year fourteen adults were saved.  Yes, the unbeliever goes to these retreats also.  God does His work of convicting the sinner of his need for eternal life.  Pray for the speakers; the families who will attend; and the safety as each one travels to and from the camp.

GOD’S ALMIGHTY PROVISION

How big is God?  Big enough to save a soul; big enough to provide for the needs of His people.  This truth is enough for us to trust in Him at all times.  Our support team has been very faithful.  Prayer partners, financial givers, caring folk who know what is needed, each play a huge role in the lives of others.  Our hearts rejoice in God’s provision for each of the needs that are faced day by day.  How wonderful to be IN His care.  He controls everything!

TEAMS 2012

The plans are already in place for the work/ministry that needs to be done in 2012.  Lynford has listed four different work projects that would be open for a team to serve the Ecuadorian churches.  These projects include: church classroom addition, dining/kitchen building, Christian high school classroom addition, and new church fellowship/sanctuary.  Along with construction work the team can be involved in evangelism, DVBS, visitation and/or teaching.  Every team is distinct.  We as missionaries do our best to fit the team into their best suited work/ministry.  Dates are flexible. The sky is the limit.  Get involved in mission during 2012; see the sights of Quito; enjoy getting acquainted with believers from Ecuador.  Eternal friendships are developed.

BEREAN BIBLE INSTITUTE NEWS

The new school year started in September.  Eighty-five students are registered; seven teachers are training men and women; twelve different courses are offered this semester.  Praise the Lord for the great start.  The students are very excited to be involved in studying the Word of God.  The Christian service department is very busy with helping the students get involved in ministry.  Pray for Patty as she coordinates this department.  Another exciting activity this semester is the missions/outreach trip to Pinuelas.  The students will be ministering to others with an emphasis on evangelism.  The majority of the people in this town are Catholics.  The goal for these trips is to help the students become involved in reaching their world for Christ.  The future goal is to set up a new church in this community, where a church is nonexistent.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS

  1. Pray for the students of the Bible institute.
  2. Ask God to lead the new church plant in North Quito as He calls a leader for this church.
  3. Spend some time in prayer for the family retreat in November.
  4. God’s desire is to save souls, pray for the salvation of many Ecuadorians this month.

Because Jesus gave us eternal life,

Lynford and Sharon Regier
