Vol. 17 No. 6                           ECUADOR ECHOES                  Thanksgiving  Edition

November 2, 2009

The key word that comes to mind is “fellowship” as we continue to visit churches and friends.  Fellowship is a key activity for the church.  In whatever generation, relationship between believers is a biblical action.  One difficulty for missionaries is that one has to leave one fellowship to enter another one.  Sometimes it is difficult for us to cope.  We miss the fellowship in Quito.  We enjoy friends on two continents.  God has given us some very special groups of believers here in the USA with whom we can fellowship.  We would not trade this time for anything.

HEALTHY CHURCHES FELLOWSHIP

QUITO FELLOWSHIPS

Two churches are fellowshipping together nicely.  One local church meets in a new building and the other in a rented facility.  The location or building does not affect the worship.  We have worshipped very nicely in a hut in the jungle.  However, the Bethel Berean Bible fellowship needed to change locations due to lack of room.  Now would you not wish this problem in your church?  So they juggle finances with space.  That is not easy to accomplish.  Pray for these two churches as they mature in their fellowship ministry.  The new church plant in Argelia continues with children’s Bible club and home Bible study each Saturday.

BEREAN BIBLE INSTITUTE

NEW FELLOWSHIPS SURVEYED

The new school year started with one hundred students in the classrooms studying the Word of God.  One of the mission classes’ responsibilities is to survey a new church plant.  Everyone who trusts Christ for salvation must be involved in a local fellowship for spiritual growth.  La Concordia is an area on the coast where the gospel has been preached, however in a suburb the need is great.  Families need the growth and maturity through a Bible-based fellowship.  The students are going there in December for more teaching and surveying the possibility of starting this new church.  Pray for these students as they help others with this church plant.

HOLIDAY WEEKEND IN ECUADOR

DAY OF THE DEAD

“MEMORIAL DAY”

Everyone likes a holiday.  Ecuadorians are no different.  This one is different, than we have.  At least the traditions are different.  They remember their deceased loved one, but with food, like vegetables, meat and water left at the gravesite.  On this day the family will go eat a meal in the cemetery.  Sad, hopeless traditions, we have eternal life to share.  The churches help celebrate not like this, but through a retreat they teach the blessings of a glorious future that all believers enjoy.  Remember last year, our couples’ retreat ended with five adults coming to a glorious hope of heaven through the forgiveness in Christ.  No sadness in that message.

LYNFORD’S HEALTH ISSUES

Thank you for your prayers.  Lynford had another doctor’s appointment.  The result; all is well with the defibrillator.  No episodes noted yet.  Praise the Lord.  The doctor said that the cardiologist in Quito was completely correct by installing the ICD.  God worked and controlled all decisions.

 THANKSGIVING PRAISE ITEMS

God has given so that we can give to others.  Jesus gave his life so that we can have life eternal.  Sharon and I are thankful for the many wonderful blessing we have in Christ.  Our health, our daily provision, our joy, our opportunity to serve all comes from a marvelous God who provides for every need.  It is with gratitude in our hearts that we write you this letter.  Our ministry in Ecuador would not be possible without a wonderful group of support individuals like you.  Some pray; some give; some encourage; some help making up the total success of the fruitful ministry that we see in Ecuador.  That is why we want to share more about God’s work in Ecuador.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVING

Would you like to get involved?  Get on a team that will be coming in 2010 for ministry/work opportunities.  God is opening the doors for this fun filled, eye opening experience you can participate in.  Get involved in missions close up.  Talk to your pastor and get in contact with us at any time.  Teams are getting ready to come.

 SCHEDULE A MEETING

We are scheduling services in churches and visits to family and friends, so if you would like for us to come share our work and God’s blessings with us that would be just fine.  Give us a call.  We are enjoying our fellowship with others and now we can do the same with you.
